Indecisive

My buddy Ryan P. and I constantly have debates over color vs. black and white. I'm quite partial to color, but I'm just now coming around to seeing his side of things, and I even let a bright blue sky go. It's still hard.

Weddins

I like weddings. So sue me. Mostly I like Nate and Stephanie's wedding. More people should get married in a blizzard and/or churches with awesome striped walls.

A Rubies Tour

I know, I'm terrible at blogging. In my defense though, I've been very busy attempting to find a job, move somewhere, pay off $30,000 in debt as quickly as possible, etc.

I took a break from the craziness for more craziness, a two week tour of the south with the band mentioned below, Rodeo Ruby Love. Though my primary duties were singing, playing the glockenspiel and selling cds to 15 year old girls, of course pictures were taken.

Day 1 started out with us driving through the aftermath of a horrific snow/ice storm in Indiana and Kentucky. We were stopped on the highway for over an hour.

The boys posed for a post-show, pre-warmth picture in Birmingham.

Of course, where there are boys, there will be boys jumping over things.

A MASSIVE dance party erupted after our house show in Baton Rouge.

Courtney, our host in Baton Rouge, took us to Mardi Gras.
I caught this one at Cafe du Monde, totally candid, the saddest photo ever.

Mmmmmm Beignets and Cafe au Lait!

Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads!
Courtney informed us that it is tradition to throw powdered sugar all over each other after eating beignets at Cafe du Monde, the boys happily upheld the tradition.

With the help of the old dude in the background, who gave us an entire plate full of powdered sugar.

Thanks old dude, you're only slightly creepy.
Four Square was played in almost every city. It was beautiful in Mississippi right before the Superbowl.

The Steelers won, and there was much rejoicing. I have a feeling the rest of tour might not have been very fun had there been a different outcome.

Our venue in Tallahassee, Florida, The Shed. My life was threatened by a crazy bum immediately after taking this photo.

We stayed at Rollins College near Orlando one night. GORGEOUS Spanish architecture and mossy trees.New friend Justin and I hung out for a day in Atlanta while the boys did sportsy things.

We had so much fun together that we decided to meet up in Kentucky for a camping trip next month. Stoked. :)

More to come tomorrow.

Puppies and Rubies

As most of you know, I've been working at a doggy day camp called Camp Bow Wow. As embarrassing as it is, I really love it. Right now we have two foster dogs on loan from Harbor Humane Society, just until they get adopted. I love these pups with all my heart, but one of them, Maddie, was adopted last week. I'm so glad she's found a home, but it will be sad to see her go.
Also, my good friends of the band Rodeo Ruby Love came up to play a show in Grand Rapids. They're always a riot, and we got a chance to shoot a few pics in a cool raised garden downtown.

Maddie the wonder dog playing with her good buddy Coco.

Izzy giving me a facial.

C'mon, how can you NOT love that face?

Rubies and flowers.

The boys, surly because they aren't watching football.

Paparazzi...or Everyone I Know In Detroit

So, a long time ago, Javelins, who are one of the best bands in Michigan, had a cd release show. I got there after their set was done, but pictures had to be taken. This is probably not interesting to any of you, but some of them are too fun not to put up.Chase was there, and had some sort of vortex growing out of his eye.

But then it disappeared with his wicked glare.

Matt Rickle, vocalist and drummer of Javelins, with his famous faces. Too good for b/w.

Dad and Zach, being silly as always.

Lizzy, just one of the many disgustingly gorgeous Child Bite girlfriends/wives.

My brother Clancy, the sasquatch.

Dude I don't know but probably should, Kevin the dreamer McGorey and his roomate/mustache officianado/Child Bite drummer Danny.

Another man of the hour, Matt Howard of Javelins and the famous Ryan Allen, of every band in Michigan.

Ms. Lisa Norton, looking lovely as always.

Fabian of The Silent Years and a long lost member of Child Bite?

Dr. Cell Phone and some chicka.

The vortex returned so Chase held it in with someone else's giant hand.

Best Wedding EVER!

A chance Craigslist encounter led me to photograph the wedding of Steve and Natalie. Their beach wedding was almost ruined by the only rainstorm to happen in over a month. However, due to how amazing they are, everything turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Natalie really emphasized that I capture the sunset, and the weather certainly cooperated.

Hey Look I Do Exist

Grand Rapids fireworks are actually quite impressive, particularly when viewed through trees, of course.
My friends' fireworks show was also impressive, but in more of a "I can't believe no one died," way.
My lovely boys Child Bite played on a very conservative radio station's afternoon show. It was a trip, and Zach didn't quite know what to do with himself when the announcer called them "Child Hut." Don't miss them this Wednesday at Midwest Fest in Mt. Pleasant.

Lastly, this is my beautiful gorgeous model friend Mary who moved away to New York, makes me sad. She was the one person I could always call when I wanted to take pictures of something pretty. She always understood my vision completely and I barely had to tell her what to do.
